Sometimes swallowing your pride is necessary for survival

Having pride in this story meant a lot. How they showed pride in the story is when they wanted to move into a new house they did anyways no matter where the house was at. Even Mrs. Johnson came to their house and was trying to scare them and tell them black people just got bombed out of the town they were about to move to. They still didn't care and moved into their new house.

If you’re going to be successful, you have to take some big risks

Walter was taking a big risk in this story when he called Linder to come back over to the house so he could except his offer for the house becasue he gave the money Mama gave him to Willy. The whole family was very disappointed in him for telling Linder to come back over so he can take his offer. However whein Linder got to the house Walter said his family is very PROUD so they do not want to accept the offer. That was taking a big risk for Walter.

Once Children Are Grown thier parents are no longer responsable for them

They way this was used in this story is when Asaghi asked Beneatha to marry him and move to Nigeria with him and become a doctor over there. She was in her mid twenties so she didn't have to ask her parents for permission she was old enough to make her own discissions. Another way it is used in this story is when Walter wants to leave the house or just go out and see his friends he doesn't have to tell anyone where he is going like he would if he was still a child. Another way it is used in this story is when Walter wants to leave or go out and hang out with his friends he can and not tell anyone where he is going like he'd have to if he was still a child. That is how it is used in the story.
